Top 3 High End Mascaras!

Hi Everyone!

I just posted the top drug store mascaras which you can read here. So, I thought it only made sense to post the top high end mascaras.

Here we go!

When I first used Buxom Sculpted Lash Mascara, I wasn't very impressed. I let it 'dry' a little and it became one of my favorites. I use three coats and it does not clump my lashes together. I also like the "S" shape of the brush because it helps in fully covering every lash. The formula is easy to remove and applies well on lower lashes. The mascara does not flake and it lengthens and thickens my eyelashes. It also fans my lashes out and the mascara does last all without falling flat or having to apply more of the formula.

I only used one coat for the all of my photos and I did not curl my eyelashes.

I also love this next mascara and it seems to be quite popular, it's the Benefit They're Real! Mascara.

I received a sample size of this mascara as a birthday gift from Sephora. I had already heard a lot about it and was excited to try it. The rave reviews were all right on the money. With one coat, this mascara transforms your eyelashes into AMAZING. I will be purchasing the full size once my tester is no more. The mascara separates, doesn't budge, no flaking, and just works wonders. The formula also thickens and lengthens. I have received compliments while wearing it and that doesn't happen often with mascara. It is easy to remove and does last all day.
One coat of mascara.
Last but definitely not least, is the MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara

This is one of those mascaras that you can immediately start using and your lashes look amazing. The brush helps separate and coat evenly. I like that it lengthens, curls and thickens lashes. The brush also has a rounded end where bristles continue and this helps get your tiny, inner lashes. My only gripe would be that the wand handle broke and I've heard about this from others as well. I do like that it is very black and the formula is whipped, so it feels good on your eyelashes.

One coat of mascara.

E.L.F. Cosmetics | Fall 2013 Limited Edition Disney Villain Makeup Books

Hello Villainous Visitors! I hope everyone has had a great start to their weekend.

If you know me personally, you know that I am a huge Disney/Disneyland fan. So with that said, I had to pick up the Fall 2013 Limited Edition E.L.F. Disney Villain Makeup Books. I really love the packaging and the magnetic closure. When you open the 'book' - they give you a step-by-step guide for a day and night look. I thought that was a clever touch and helpful for everyone.

They also have a limited edition nail polish set that is dedicated to the villainous four but I have way too many already and I didn't really see a need to add miniature polishes to my collection at this time. I think the shades would be great for someone who is just starting their collection. You get a set of 12 inside the box ($9.99) and they all apply smoothly and pretty opaque.

Here is a photo from the E.L.F. Cosmetics website:

Each makeup book includes:
  • 1 Eyelid Primer
  • 6 Eyeshadow Colors
  • 1 Brightening Eyeliner
  • 1 Liquid Eyeliner
  • 1 Mascara
  • 1 Lip Color
  • 1 Eyeshadow Brush
  • Price $9.99

I also swatched the Sheer Primer and Black Eye Pencil:

Mascara, Liquid Eyeliner and Eyeshadow Brush:

My thoughts on the makeup books:
  • The eyeshadow palettes are pretty pigmented for the price. A few shades are a little chalky but it's to be expected.
  • The shimmers do have some fall out but it's easy to clean up
  • Each of the primers are 'sheer' but I do not think they make my eyeshadow last longer.
  • Ursula contains an eyeliner in "Midnight" and the others have "Black."
  • Eyeliner - Dries quickly but doesn't have lasting power, it kind of peels in a way.
  • Eye Pencil - Will tug on your eyelid, it's not smooth at all.
  • Mascara -  Just okay, didn't really do much for my lashes.
  • Lip Products - Sheer coverage and they have a pleasant scent - I also like the shades but you will have to reapply within an hour or so.
  • The brush had immediate fallout while taking it out of the package. I prefer their other line of brushes.
  • The top row of the eyeshadow palette is for your day look and the bottom row is for your wicked night look!
  • Favorites from the makeup books: Eyeshadow Palettes and Lip Glosses.
Which villainous lady is your favorite?

Top 4 Drugstore Mascaras!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note, the title of this post is not used loosely, there was major trial and error with several drugstore mascaras to bring you this post! I am elated to bring you 4 high quality mascaras that will be easy on your wallet.

The first product that should be apart of your collection is Jordana's Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara -$2.99. I love the fact that I do not have to wait for this mascara to dry out a bit (that's the case with all 4). It really hits the ground running and gives my lashes volume + length. The wand is the perfect size to really get to the tiny inner eye lashes and to apply to your lower lashes.

I also like the simple packaging and you have complete control with this wand.

Here's an action shot of me wearing the mascara and the first photo on each pictorial is the "before" picture. I added three coats of this mascara because I personally like a lot of mascara and I did not curl my eyelashes. The mascara does not clump or smear.

Next we have Revlon's Lash Potion Volume + Length - $5.00. I really like the larger brush on this mascara, it seems to really separate and fan your lashes out. Again, I apply three coats and I do not have clumping or smearing issues. This is another mascara that gives you length and volume.

I feel that the brush needles are a little finer and this aids in the separating of your lashes. I also love the beautiful packaging. The only thing I would have to say is that this one is a little tricky to apply to your lower lashes due to the larger brush. I use it on my lower lashes and clean up any smudging with a Q-tip.

I did not curl my lashes for the photo below and I am using the color: Blackest Black (I use Black or Blackest Black for all mascara selections).

So, at the moment if you had me select a favorite from my four drugstore faves, it would have to be Maybelline's The Rocket Mascara - $5.94 (not Waterproof). I was skeptical at first with all of the buzz around it and thought it wouldn't really stand out because of my other great selections. Well, I was wrong, I wasn't a huge fan in the past of the plastic brush. This mascara has change that for me, I feel that this brush makes sure that my eyelashes are completely coated.

I apply my usual three coats and I get amazing volume and length with this mascara. Like I've mentioned above, I do not curl my lashes and it appears as if I do with this mascara. It doesn't smear or clump either. It also defines your lashes, separates and will last all day.

I apologize for the photo quality!

The only down side would be it is a little difficult to remove for me, maybe it's the three coats!?

Last but not least! I wanted to bring you a BONUS review. My best friend has an oily skin type and I am combination. She has a difficult time with selecting mascaras that hold a curl and last because she said the excess oil on her eyelids and lashes really take a toll on her cosmetics at times.

We were at a local drugstore and she was going to purchase a new mascara to try, I suggested one that I've never tried before but I always hear that it works extremely well. She decided to give it a go!

She has been using CoverGirl's Clump Crusher Mascara -($6.94) for a few weeks now and she really likes the product with her skin type.

She sent me these photos to use:
Here's the breakdown of her review:
  • She applies two coats and curls her eyelashes
  • After a few hours, the curl is not as prominent but it's still visible
  • The mascara does not clump at all
  • The formula doesn't feel heavy and her eyelashes do not feel stiff
  • It doesn't smear or flake
  • She removes the mascara with ease using makeup wipes
  • The mascara also separates and defines
  • She wears prescription glasses, like myself- and this is one of the few mascaras that hold the curl, so her eyelashes aren't constantly hitting the lens.
  • The brush evenly coats her eyelashes
These are photos that she took after wearing the mascara for a few hours (The first picture is a 'before' photo):

What I'm Lovin' Wednesday: Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask

Hi internet friends!

I have been using this product for a while now and I love it. It's called Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask and it's for all skin types. I try to use it once or twice a week because it clarifies and removes impurities from your face.

I usually cleanse my face and then apply the mask as directed with most masks. I like that it does it's job without making my face feel dry. The active ingredients are plants extracts and natural ingredients are always a plus.

Before use, you have to shake it really well or else you'll have a watery mess pour out.

Here's the consistency of the product.

So, here is an action shot! It goes on green and then starts to "dry" for 10-20 minutes. You can actually see it working and drawing out the oils and impurities from your face. This will also help with oily skin and reducing large pores.

The lighter areas show where it's beginning to dry and work its magic!

It's now completely dry and you can see the darker "spots" are where it's pulling out excess oils and other charming, deep rooted impurities from your face! At this point, your face will feel tight. I also like that it washes off so easily. When you apply the product, the scent is earthy and not overpowering at all. After I wash my face, it feels soft and extremely clean. I had maybe one or two skintone bumps on my forehead, (which could of been clogged pores) - they have vanished after an Esthetician told me I would need to see a Dermatologist for them.

I hope this wasn't too graphic or a TMI episode, I wanted to show all of the steps!
