Review: Kat Von D Ink Liner in Trooper

Hi dolls! I had to share what my new favorite eyeliner was with you!

I have been on quite the hunt for the perfect eyeliner because I have oily lids and I end up with an unwanted smokey eye within 4 hours. I have tried drugstore and other higher end brands that claimed to be waterproof and they were still smudging all over my lids.

I had heard a lot about the Kat Von D Ink Liner in Trooper as most of us have and decided to give it a try. Uhm, in love! Not only does it not smudge or budge but it is a true, matte black. It is also easy to apply as the felt tip is flexible and not too stiff. It is waterproof but it easily comes off with my cleanser and/or makeup wipes.

My bolder eyeliner look and no smudging.

Review: Maybelline Dream Wonder VS. L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder

Hi everyone! Sorry for being M.I.A.- I'm back and ready to share my finds.

I'm sure most of you have tried or read about L'Oreal magic Nude Liquid Powder by now. I wanted to do a comparison to the Maybelline Dream Wonder

I really liked the L'Oreal formula, it's light, slightly buildable and has SPF in it. It's a little tricky to work with because it's so thin and glides off your hand and it dries fairly quickly. I heard great things about the Maybelline formula, so I tried it and I love it. I feel what the Magic Nude is lacking, this bottle has! It's still a thin liquid but a little thicker than other, has a wand for less of a mess and has 20 SPF instead of 18. This one has more coverage as well and is also slightly buildable. You can use it as a base before a heavier foundation or alone. I usually wear it alone and set it with a translucent powder.

I usually just dab all over my face or as directed dab it on my finger and then apply. If you are a fan of the L'Oreal formula I think you'll love this one. I also blend them in with a brush opposed to using my fingers. The down side for both of these is due to them being more of a natural coverage, they do not last all day- I would say 4-5 hours.

Warby Parker: *New* Waterway Collection + info on their prescription collection

Hi everyone! I took a little vacation but I am back and ready to share my findings!
I know many of you probably already know about this website/brand but I wanted to share anyway because I love the concept.
Due to a busy schedule or maybe the inconvenience, shopping for eyeglasses or sunglasses can be a little tedious. You try to find time to drive to your local mall or eye store. Well, Warby Parker brings them to your front door! You can choose up to 5 pairs of glasses and have them sent to you so you can try them on, did I mention they ship these to you for free? Also, when you're done with your selection, you can drop them off at your mailbox and order your favorite pair. I also like the interactive website, you can upload a picture and virtually try on the glasses as well. They have glasses for both men and women. I am sharing my favorites below!

Here's a snippet (my favorite part) directly from their website, if making it super easy to purchase glasses wasn't enough, they also donate a pair of glasses for every sale:

"We partner with non-profits that train low-income entrepreneurs to sell affordable glasses. Approximately one billion people don’t have access to affordable glasses. Glasses can increase one’s income by 20%, enable students to see a blackboard and offer dignity to those with poor eyesight. Warby Parker works with experienced non-profit partners to ensure that each sale of our frames will give someone in need access to affordable glasses."

Well, they have quite a selection of frames to choose from for prescription glasses and they just launched their Waterway Collection, inspired by warm coastal travels and landlocked staycations by the pool. Because summer is for relaxing! I live in Southern California and a good pair of sunglasses is always needed! This collection is fashion forward with the right amount of timeless style. They are also limited edition, so if you see any that you like, make sure to snag one with the thought that someone else in need will get a pair because of you! It's a win/win situation.

Review: Hask Hair Products

Hello everyone! I just started a new job, so I am sorry for being MIA. I was sent Hask hair products for review and wanted to tell you a little about them. All opinions are my own, as always!

I tried the Hask Argan and Keratin products on my naturally curly but often straightened hair. I really liked the packaging due to it not being completely opaque, so you can see when you are almost out of the product. I was also sent the oil and treatments.

I thought that the Argan and Keratin line both had a pleasant scent. They do not contain sulfate, so minimal suds but they left my hair soft and shiny. I like to wash my hair twice in a row in one session, I feel that it feels extra clean and I can sometimes even go an extra day with just using dry shampoo in between days.

I also had others try it, so I could get feedback on different types of hair, such as; frizzy, fine and oily. Not to my surprise, but I received positive feedback. The shampoo and conditioner did not weigh down fine hair or those with oily scalp. It worked great on frizz and color treated hair. Other feedback was that they saw more shine and their hair felt manageable and full.

I tried the treatment and my hair felt super soft afterward. I like to use a hair mask every 2 weeks due to blow drying and using a flat iron quite often. I also used the oil before I blew dry my hair and my hair was shiny and appeared smoother after using my flatiron. I have tried other brands but I didn't really see a difference with them, so I was surprised to see a difference when using Hask.

Have you tried the brand or will you be trying it in the future?

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Disclaimer: The product was sent to me from It Cosmetics but all opinions are my own, as always.

Courtesy of QVC.

Hi beauties! Today I am excited to share a review on the It Cosmetics "Naturally Pretty" palette and the No-Tug Heavenly Luxe Dual Shadow Brush. You get 14 matte, anti-aging eye shadows and a Transforming Pearl shade. The Transforming Pearl shade is to be applied on top of any of the 14 eye shadows for added shimmer and to soften the look. I personally do not use the transforming shadow for that purpose but as a highlight for the inner corners of my eyes.

The shadows are highly pigmented and glide on your lids like a dream! They feel very silky and soft and are made not to settle in fine lines or deeper lines. I tested that theory of course and applied the shadows on myself and my mother, so I could get a better review of the palette. We both loved it OH so much! The shadow did not crease or settle in lines and the formula is buttery and amazing.

You can create many looks with the palette and I like that you can go from a soft day look to a sultry night look with this palette. The brush is amazing as well, the bristles are soft but do the job. One end is fluffy, for your blending needs and the other end is short and dense for packing on the color. This has become one of my favorite brushes because it's really all you need if you travel often or just want to quickly apply your eye shadow without having to fuss with several brushes.

From QVC:

Why is it different: These shadows instantly diffuse the look of lines and wrinkles on eyes and lids. Lush matte pigment glides over lids to create the perfect eye look. Because these shades are anti-aging, they contain ultra-hydrating ingredients, including hydrolyzed collagen, acai, green tea, and vitamins A, C, and E. These colors contain everything you would want in a shadow and none of the ingredients you don't! Specially designed, the No-Tug Heavenly Luxe Dual Shadow Brush means no tugging or pulling on delicate eyelid skin.

*I'm sharing this information from QVC because I find this statement to be helpful and true due to how the eye shadows felt on my lids!

The only con I would have to mention is the packaging, although lovely and velvety soft- I can see it looking worn very quickly. Not a huge deal but I wanted to mention that in case you are not fond of that type of packaging. The palette does come with a nice sized mirror though!
The swatches do not do the palette any justice, but I posted them for an idea of the shades.
I think these matte shadows are really a game changer and the palette is a MUST for any collection and I do not feel that way about every palette that I own.

Will you be trying this palette anytime soon or if you have it, what are your thoughts?

"No Makeup" Makeup Look

Hi beauties! I wanted to share my "No Makeup" Makeup products that I use. This is a quick and easy look. Let's get to the products!

Here is a step-by-step on how to apply each product:

1. Benefit Porefessional: You can apply any primer you may have, I personally love this product. I apply this all over my face to minimize any large pores and to smooth out the face. I feel that this product sort of "blurs" my facial imperfections.

2. It Cosmetics [Your skin but better] CC+ Cream - This is one of my favorite products at the moment. It provides light to medium coverage. For this "no makeup" look, I use a very small amount and lightly pat it all over my face and towards my neck area. I really like the benefits of the product, here are a few: Paraben free, SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum, Anti-Aging Hydrating Serum, Vitamins A,B,C and E- and the lemony pastry scent is a bonus!

3. L'oreal True Match Concealer Crayon - Next, I conceal any stand out imperfections. This could be a blemish, redness around the nose or anywhere on your face. I also go over my under eye area and eyelids to even out the skintone because I am not applying eyeshadow.

4. Sephora Smoothing Translucent Powder - I do not like to add a skintoned powder to this look because it won't look as "natural" and I want my skin to shine through. So, I love this translucent powder! I use a light hand while applying it only to the t-zone area. Make sure to tap your brush to get rid of excess powder before applying.

5. Anastasia Clear Brow Gel - Next, I comb my eyebrows with a spooly brush and apply a coat of clear brow gel. I really like the Anastasia brand, your brows will stay in place all day! Also, this is how I groom my brows for this look but I have a natural fuller brow. If you do not, I would suggest a tinted brow gel or filling them in lightly, depending on how you want them of course.

6. NYX Matte Black Liner - I use the liner to "tightline" my eyes to make my eyelashes appear fuller. So, instead of lining the top of your lid, you gently lift your eyelid to expose the lash line. You will be adding the liner to the top, inner portion of the eye lid. You mainly want to fill in any gaps and I usually just do the outer portion of my eyes. I'm using NYX but you can use any eyeliner, and of course you can use another shade, like brown.

7. Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara - You can skip this step- but if I'm doing a "no makeup" look or a full makeup look - I will add mascara! I love this mascara and I will apply more than one coat. Don't forget to curl your lashes!

8. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm - To finish the look, I apply a lip balm. I know a lot people are not fond of the scent of this collection, but the scent does go away. I also like that Baby Lips Medicated collection does smooth my lips while adding a nice tint.

I just wanted to add that if you wanted to turn this look into an everyday look, it's easy to do! Just add a little bronzer and blush and you will have a natural get up and go look.

Review: Boots No7 Stay Perfect Trio Eye Shadows + Swatches

Disclaimer: The product was sent to me a few months ago but all opinions are my own.

Hi beauties! I hope the week has started off well for everyone. So, I've noticed that there isn't much buzz about Boots No7 Stay Perfect Trio Eye Shadows in the beauty blog world. So let's get into the review!

I have worn each palette a few times and I really love the formula. With that said, I am not a huge fan a shimmer but these look really pretty on the lids! There's about two shadows that do not have much shimmer in one of the palettes that I have (Faithful). It's not chunky glitter at all, so that's a plus.

The shadows are pigmented and there is some fallout but it's not too bad. I also like that the formula is really smooth and applies well. I think my main gripe would be the packaging, other palettes in the drugstore come with the same amount of each shade. As you can see from the main image, the shadow amount in each pan is not equal. These are $6.99 (0.1 Oz.) at Target and I would like to see a little more product for the price or just an equal distribution in each pan.
Here are some swatches, check out the amazing pigment!

The palette in: Golden

The palette in: Faithful

The palette in: Forest fruits
The eyeshadows are hypo-allergenic and do last all day. You can also use a wet or dry brush, depending on how intense you want the color to be.

Would you try these out?

DIY: Valentine's Day Nails Pictorial | Simple and Fun!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a quick and fun way to dress up your nails for Valentine's Day.

Note: These photos are pre-cleanup! So the edges are not as neat..
What you'll need:

  • Make sure that your nails are filed and ready to be polished!
  • Apply the clear polish of your choice and let it dry
  • You can then apply the white polish to the nail of your choice and let it dry
  • Polish the rest of your nails red and let them dry
  • Grab your dotting tool, if you do not have one - you can use a bobby pin (I show how that's done here)
  • You can shape the heart with the dotting tool and apply dots on your nails as desired!
  • Take pictures of your cute nails and tag me!

Wet n Wild | Review + Swatches (Valentine's Day Edition)

Hi all!

I wanted to review Wet n Wild cosmetics. I've always heard how great the product was and for some reason never thought about purchasing the brand for myself. I did recently and one word: AMAZING. I chose shades that would be perfect for a Valentine's Day dinner or Anti-Valentine's Day night out!

I purchased three lipsticks, including one from the Fergie Collection and an eyeshadow trio. You can't really go wrong with trying these products out, they are super affordable (under $3) and easy to find.

Lipstick shades I purchased:
  • Fergie Collection: Ferguson Crest Cabernet
  • Sugar Plum Fairy
  • Mauve Outta Here
Eyeshadow trio:
  • Knock On Wood
The formula is amazing for both the eyeshadow and the lipsticks. They are pigmented and they leave behind a stain. The eyeshadow did not crease and I did not use a primer. I feel like these trios are great for travel and you can get a few looks from them. I love creating romantic smokey eye looks and neutral eye looks with the Knock On Wood trio. They come with two brushes and a "how-to" guide on the back of the package.

Knock On Wood - I'm in love with the last shade!

Tip: Although these are already priced at $3 or less, check your local stores/store websites for sales! I bought these for 30% off at Rite-Aid.

Review: Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette & Swatches + Tutorial

Hi everyone! I hope your week went well.

I have been wanting a Kat Von D palette for a while now and I recently purchased the Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette. I really liked the warm shades in this palette. It comes with 8 matte shadows and one Autograph Pencil Eyeliner in Brown. I liked that the palette came with an eye pencil because most of the time the brushes that come with palettes are not amazing in quality or we probably already have a favorite set.

I also love the packaging- from how the box that contains the palette opens, to the snap to close hard case. It glides open for you to a good sized mirror which is great for traveling or just in general. I like that the case is a hard plastic and it's compact enough to throw in your purse for trips. Also, last but not least, the beautiful embossed artwork on the packaging!

The eyeshadows themselves did not disappoint at all. Even if you aren't a fan of matte shadows, go to Sephora and at least swatch these. They are buttery smooth and will last all day, without fading or getting patchy. They are also highly pigmented and the color payoff is amazing. The other palettes do have shimmer if you would like to try those instead. But this palette is definitely a favorite of mine and I think the price point is good at $36. You can create smoky, sultry or neutral looks with this palette. I think it's perfect for the colder weather but I would use it all year round!

Now, for the fun part! Swatches...

Shades from left to right include:
  • Für Elise
  • Vespertine
  • Renholdër
  • Siouxsie-sioux
  • Unrequited
  • Harlow
  • Wölf
  • Cleopatra

Here are the first four shades:

Here's the eyeliner pencil and the last four shades:

I also wanted to share Kat Von D showing you one of the looks with the palette:

Clear Brow Gel Battle: Maybelline Great Lash vs. Anastasia Beverly Hills

I hope the weekend is treating everyone well!

Is spending $20+ for a clear brow gel worth it?

When it comes to clear brow gel, I have always gone for a drugstore brand. My mentality was it's just clear gel that I quickly swipe on my natural eyebrows, there's no need to venture out on this one...

Well, recently I broke that rule and I ventured out after months of using Maybelline Great Lash brow gel. I received a Sephora gift card and I decided to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel and it was life changing! Okay, that may be a tad dramatic BUT it was sure up there. Maybelline's brush stays really wet and even after I remove excess gel, it seems too wet on my brows. With that said, I do see flaking and my eyebrows do not stay in place all day.

I use clear gels just to groom or add extra hold after I fill them in just a little. I noticed as soon as I started using the Anastasia brand, the brush was perfect and not too wet. Also, the formula blew the Maybelline brand out of the water. I do not have flaking at all and my brows stay in place until I remove my makeup. It's almost like they add a dab of super glue! It also dries quickly, which the other brand did not. I think this would really be beneficial to those that draw in their eyebrows because it will not budge all day. It makes my natural eyebrows look very groomed and like I just came out of a brow bar.

So, yes, in my opinion shelling out a few extra dollars for the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear eyebrow gel is well worth the money. The packaging is also sleek and as big as a regular mascara tube, so it will last you a while. Sephora also carries a Anastasia eyebrow kit that comes with three items and the clear brow gel is included. This could be more cost efficient if you would like to try a few things at once from the line.

Review: Taya Beauty Hair Products | Thickening Collection

Hi all! I was sent Taya Beauty at the end of November. I had never heard of the product before and I was intrigued to try it. I was sent their Amazon White Clay collection. This collection is great if you want to add thickness and fullness to your hair. I already have pretty thick hair, so I have tried the products a few times but also let a few others try it with thin to fine hair to really get some feedback for all hair types.

I must say, we all liked the product! I had someone with dry, frizzy hair try the product and she said she felt an instant fullness and her hair was really soft. I was quite impressed because in no way has this person ever reviewed a product and we usually wait until after a few applications to see if it works. This formula instantly did what it said it does!

I personally tried the product on my hair. Again, I have thicker, curly hair - I straighten my hair though and sometimes it tends to go a little flat right after washing it and the product definitely helped me with this. The shampoo and conditioner left my hair soft and manageable. I added the leave-in mist and creme to my regular routine before straightening my hair and I really liked the results.

I also wanted to mention that any interaction I've had with the company has been beyond pleasant. They are more than willing to answer questions or give additional information. I find that great customer service is just the cherry on top of the them having a great product.

They were recently featured on HSN and I was happy to see them on their blog as well:

Pictorial: UD Naked 3 Smokey Eye | Kay's Couture

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a great start to the week. I was on the fence about purchasing the Naked 3 palette but after the lovely Kayla's pictorial (, I think the palette will be on my 'to purchase' list!

Take it away, Kayla!

The Naked 3 pallet is great for creating soft and rosy eye looks.  To achieve the look pictured above, follow the steps below.

1) Always prime your eyes with an eye primer, I use Urban Decay's Anti Aging primer but you may use whatever primer works for you.
2) With a crease brush, take a good amount of "Nooner" and apply it to the crease.  This shade dose not have to be applied specifically to the crease but should be focused there.  After it is applied, blend it out with a blending brush.
3) Then take the shade "Mugshot" and apply this to the eyelid focusing on the center.
4) With the shade "Darkside"  focus on the outer corner of your eye, bring it about one thirds of the way into the crease, then blend to create a softer look.
5) With the shade "Strange" highlight the inner corner of the eye.
6) Apply a liner of your choice, for the upper lash line I prefer gel or liquid liner to create a precise line, for the bottom I use a pencil only applying it about half way.
7) Apply mascara of your choice (this could be your final step)
8) For a more glamorous look, apply false lashes.  The lashes I am using here are the Red Cherry lashes #43.
9) If you are using false lashes make sure to go over the lash band with a gel or liquid liner to conceal any glue.

I hope you enjoyed this pictorial, make sure to check out Kayla's blog for more looks and fashion inspiration!
