Review: Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette & Swatches + Tutorial

Hi everyone! I hope your week went well.

I have been wanting a Kat Von D palette for a while now and I recently purchased the Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette. I really liked the warm shades in this palette. It comes with 8 matte shadows and one Autograph Pencil Eyeliner in Brown. I liked that the palette came with an eye pencil because most of the time the brushes that come with palettes are not amazing in quality or we probably already have a favorite set.

I also love the packaging- from how the box that contains the palette opens, to the snap to close hard case. It glides open for you to a good sized mirror which is great for traveling or just in general. I like that the case is a hard plastic and it's compact enough to throw in your purse for trips. Also, last but not least, the beautiful embossed artwork on the packaging!

The eyeshadows themselves did not disappoint at all. Even if you aren't a fan of matte shadows, go to Sephora and at least swatch these. They are buttery smooth and will last all day, without fading or getting patchy. They are also highly pigmented and the color payoff is amazing. The other palettes do have shimmer if you would like to try those instead. But this palette is definitely a favorite of mine and I think the price point is good at $36. You can create smoky, sultry or neutral looks with this palette. I think it's perfect for the colder weather but I would use it all year round!

Now, for the fun part! Swatches...

Shades from left to right include:
  • Für Elise
  • Vespertine
  • Renholdër
  • Siouxsie-sioux
  • Unrequited
  • Harlow
  • Wölf
  • Cleopatra

Here are the first four shades:

Clear Brow Gel Battle: Maybelline Great Lash vs. Anastasia Beverly Hills

I hope the weekend is treating everyone well!

Is spending $20+ for a clear brow gel worth it?

When it comes to clear brow gel, I have always gone for a drugstore brand. My mentality was it's just clear gel that I quickly swipe on my natural eyebrows, there's no need to venture out on this one...

Well, recently I broke that rule and I ventured out after months of using Maybelline Great Lash brow gel. I received a Sephora gift card and I decided to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel and it was life changing! Okay, that may be a tad dramatic BUT it was sure up there. Maybelline's brush stays really wet and even after I remove excess gel, it seems too wet on my brows. With that said, I do see flaking and my eyebrows do not stay in place all day.

I use clear gels just to groom or add extra hold after I fill them in just a little. I noticed as soon as I started using the Anastasia brand, the brush was perfect and not too wet. Also, the formula blew the Maybelline brand out of the water. I do not have flaking at all and my brows stay in place until I remove my makeup. It's almost like they add a dab of super glue! It also dries quickly, which the other brand did not. I think this would really be beneficial to those that draw in their eyebrows because it will not budge all day. It makes my natural eyebrows look very groomed and like I just came out of a brow bar.

So, yes, in my opinion shelling out a few extra dollars for the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear eyebrow gel is well worth the money. The packaging is also sleek and as big as a regular mascara tube, so it will last you a while. Sephora also carries a Anastasia eyebrow kit that comes with three items and the clear brow gel is included. This could be more cost efficient if you would like to try a few things at once from the line.

Review: Taya Beauty Hair Products | Thickening Collection

Hi all! I was sent Taya Beauty at the end of November. I had never heard of the product before and I was intrigued to try it. I was sent their Amazon White Clay collection. This collection is great if you want to add thickness and fullness to your hair. I already have pretty thick hair, so I have tried the products a few times but also let a few others try it with thin to fine hair to really get some feedback for all hair types.

I must say, we all liked the product! I had someone with dry, frizzy hair try the product and she said she felt an instant fullness and her hair was really soft. I was quite impressed because in no way has this person ever reviewed a product and we usually wait until after a few applications to see if it works. This formula instantly did what it said it does!

I personally tried the product on my hair. Again, I have thicker, curly hair - I straighten my hair though and sometimes it tends to go a little flat right after washing it and the product definitely helped me with this. The shampoo and conditioner left my hair soft and manageable. I added the leave-in mist and creme to my regular routine before straightening my hair and I really liked the results.

I also wanted to mention that any interaction I've had with the company has been beyond pleasant. They are more than willing to answer questions or give additional information. I find that great customer service is just the cherry on top of the them having a great product.

They were recently featured on HSN and I was happy to see them on their blog as well:

Pictorial: UD Naked 3 Smokey Eye | Kay's Couture

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a great start to the week. I was on the fence about purchasing the Naked 3 palette but after the lovely Kayla's pictorial (http://misskayscouture.blogspot.com/), I think the palette will be on my 'to purchase' list!

Take it away, Kayla!

The Naked 3 pallet is great for creating soft and rosy eye looks.  To achieve the look pictured above, follow the steps below.

1) Always prime your eyes with an eye primer, I use Urban Decay's Anti Aging primer but you may use whatever primer works for you.
2) With a crease brush, take a good amount of "Nooner" and apply it to the crease.  This shade dose not have to be applied specifically to the crease but should be focused there.  After it is applied, blend it out with a blending brush.
3) Then take the shade "Mugshot" and apply this to the eyelid focusing on the center.
4) With the shade "Darkside"  focus on the outer corner of your eye, bring it about one thirds of the way into the crease, then blend to create a softer look.
5) With the shade "Strange" highlight the inner corner of the eye.
6) Apply a liner of your choice, for the upper lash line I prefer gel or liquid liner to create a precise line, for the bottom I use a pencil only applying it about half way.
7) Apply mascara of your choice (this could be your final step)
8) For a more glamorous look, apply false lashes.  The lashes I am using here are the Red Cherry lashes #43.
9) If you are using false lashes make sure to go over the lash band with a gel or liquid liner to conceal any glue.

I hope you enjoyed this pictorial, make sure to check out Kayla's blog for more looks and fashion inspiration!
