Review: Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Powder Foundation

Hi friends! I wanted to share a review on the new(ish) Maybelline Superstay Better Skin powder. Quite the long name! I purchased the powder at Target and it is under $10.

I heard that it oxidizes but this was not the case with my skin, the shade I bought stayed true to its color. I swatched it when I got home and it was very smooth. It comes with a sponge applicator or you can use your own brush. I like the product for days that I do not want to wear foundation and I want my face to breathe a little more.

I tried it on and immediately loved the light-medium coverage and matte finish. If you like more coverage, I would recommend a light layer over your foundation to set it. I cannot say it has improved my skin but I do like the product itself as it does last and provides enough coverage for me.

I also love the huge mirror it comes with. Overall, I would purchase the powder again. I would not recommend the powder for dry skin due to the matte finish.

Nügg Lip Mask Review

I wanted to share an affordable lip mask that I purchased at Target by nügg. I forever have chapped lips- it appears, and thought I should give this product that is under $10 a try!

I actually think it works really well sans the plumping part and I already have fuller lips so that part does not bug me. If you are looking for a plumping product, I would not recommend this. However, my lips do feel hydrated and softer after 20 minutes of having this on. I slather the product on my lips, wait a few minutes and wipe off the excess amount of product.

It has a minty flavor but it is faint and not powerful at all. I absolutely love the sleek gold packaging, you would never know it was a under $10! The formula feels like a light lotion almost and doesn't feel heavy at all. I think it would be great for everyone and mainly those that wear liquid lipsticks or mattes that tend to make your lips feel a little dry. We can't stay away from the pretty lipsticks but this little guy will come to the rescue. Also, they do not test on animals.

Have you tried it?

Top 4 Affordable Lip Liners | $5 & Under

Here is a post that will save you time and money. Lip liners tend to go so fast, so why spend more? There are so many to choose from, so I hope this is helpful.

These are my favorites when it comes to affordable lip liners that last and could stand up to more high end brands. Also, the highest priced lippie on the list below is only $5!

1. Essence Lip Liners-
Smooth formula, lasts for a few hours and you can use it alone without lipstick/gloss. Cons: A little difficult to locate, only at Ulta and now Target- but the selection at Target is quite limited.

2. Jordana Easyliner Retractable Pencils -
No sharpener needed, smooth application, great color selection! I love 'Tawny' for the perfect nude lip that matches your lip color.

3. ColourPop Lippie Pencils -
Amazing formula and selection. Very smooth application and I love the color, Bound. Can be worn alone and they are not drying. Con: Can only purchase online but sign up and you'll receive $5 off!

4. NYX Cosmetics Slim Lip Pencils -
This is a classic favorite, I have purchased NYX for a very long time. They have the selection, quality and overall just amazing. You can wear these alone too but they are not as smooth as ColourPop. Still worth a try if you have never tried them or are just started out with cosmetics. They also have retractable pencils.

Have you tried them?

Top 5 Drugstore Foundations

I wanted to share a quick list of drugstore, affordable foundations in case you are in the market to try something new. These foundations are comparable to some high end brands as they perform just as well and leave more cash in your wallets. Who doesn't like that?

Here are the top 5 in my opinion and I have linked the cheapest price I see on the net.

1. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation
Great staying power, keeps me matte, a little goes a long way, buildable formula -Con: No pump

2. L'oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation
Great formula, you can use the pad it comes with to press into the skin or a brush/beauty blender of your choice, makes my skin appear dewy and healthy. A little goes a very long way. Con: May not be great for oily skin unless you set with powder. I have combo skin and it tends to look shiny after a long day without touch ups or setting it. It can work for you but you must set it!

3. L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
I like the easy to use packaging as you can control how much comes out. It is not runny but has a good consistency. The formula keeps you matte and provides great coverage. Great staying power.

4.  Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation
Love the packaging, has SPF of 15, helps your skin as it has Actyl C aka "a more durable" form of Vitamin C. As I cannot fully say it helped my skin, I can say I do like to use it daily and it doesn't clog my pores. I feel like it could have these benefits as I continue to use it. This is the first foundation that I am almost completely out of and I like the concealer as well. I also like the coverage, it is light to medium and good for all skin types.

5. Revlon ColorStay 24HR Foundation
Often compared to a higher end brand, now has a pump, great staying power, awesome coverage, stays matte and overall should be in your collection.

Also, I know it is sometimes difficult to select your perfect shade, when it doubt, select the lighter option as a little bronze and blush can make it work. I also like "N" or neutral option as this will not really pull to pink or too yellow for you. I would rather have a yellow based foundation for my skin tone. If you are a beginner, just compare the shades side by side and you will see which ones look "pink" and so forth.

Review | Scentbird

I had to share my current favorite as it was sent to me by Scentbird. I think this subscription is truly amazing and innovative.

What is Scentbird?

From their website...

Scentbird is about the fun and magic of fragrance. We designed Scentbird for the pickiest girl- or boy- to let you date luxury perfumes before marrying them.

Get access to a 30-day supply of hundreds of top designer fragrances, including Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs delivered to your door for just $14.95/month.

I just really like that for a fraction of the cost of a full bottle, you get to try a perfume or you get your favorite perfumes for 30 days at a time. I really think this is great as it saves you from buying perfumes that may cost $75 and up. You will probably end up purchasing your favorite but this is way better than little samples that you can barely get a drop of perfume from.

I love the sleek packaging and you just twist the bottle and the spritzer portion appears. This is great to just throw in your purse and go.

I wanted to add a picture of me holding the bottle so you could see the size, it is not a large bottle but a perfect size.
I have ordered my first bottle in Chloe, Love Story. It is not my favorite scent but I am excited to try another! I also like that you answer questions regarding scents and where you would wear the perfume. Scentbird basically populates a recommendation list for you of the scents you would enjoy.

What do you think about this subscription or have you tried it already?

Dr. Brandt: Needles No More 3-D Filler Mask

This post is long overdue but I wanted to share a new favorite from Sephora, Dr. Brandt's 3-D Filler Mask.

The mask actually stays on your face as a treatment and you do not wash it off. I really like this concept because unlike others where you wear for a certain period of time and wash it off, this stays on your face and continues to improve the appearance of your skin throughout the day. I also like that several masks are coming with a brush now, makes it more sanitary and easier to apply.

So, you take the brush and you apply in a 'triangle' movement, starting at your chin and then you can apply it where you see fine lines/wrinkles, etc. You apply it after cleansing your face and before moisturizer or primer since you want the layer of treatment applied directly to your skin.

The product quickly absorbs into the skin and you can fill it tightening your skin, it is not uncomfortable though. I applied my moisturizer after and I really like the appearance of my skin.

I can honestly say that this is not a product that is full of hype but it actually works to revolumize, reshape and fill where you need it.

It works well for fine lines and mature skin, it is a great product that I think you should try out if you are interested. I have received compliments on my skin with and without makeup when I apply this as my base. I have been really wowed with their products and they are staples for my skincare and makeup routine.

If you are interested, here is my review on the exfoliator and the primer which I use religiously.

Review: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Happy New Year, everyone!

I purchased the Too Faced Born This Way foundation when I received a gift card from Sephora due to my VIB status. I have wanted to try it but have always used more drug store foundations. First, I really love the packaging and I love that it comes with a pump!

The pump controls the perfect amount to be dispensed to cover your entire face. The foundation comes in 18 different shades which is awesome because you're guaranteed to find your perfect shade without having to combine another shade to match your skin.

It feels really hydrating and adds medium to full coverage. Although, it provides really good coverage, you can still see your skin peeking through for a natural look.

Here is a little blurb from the the Sephora site:

The revolutionary formula is infused with a potent combination of coconut water to naturally replenish moisture levels; nature’s resilient alpine rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity; and hyaluronic acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

I really agree with this because I really love how it leaves my skin and I have been using it for about one month and I feel like it has approved the appearance of my skin without makeup.
Here is a swatch to help show the consistency:

I have the foundation in Warm Nude
As mentioned, it is pretty light weight but packs a punch in the coverage department. I apply mine with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I like the luminous, demi-matte finish, you can set it with a powder but I do not. It also has good lasting power as it keeps up with my work day.

Overall, I think you should give it a try if this has been something you are interested in. It is a tad pricey, so I would only recommend it if I truly liked it. It is also cruelty and gluten free!

Here is a photo of me wearing the foundation:
